Hope for the future…

If you have been reading this blog, you may have seen the ups and downs of my attempts to deal with plastic in my life.  It has not been easy.

But when I see something like this — Milo Cress, a 4th grader, attempting to come to terms with the plastic on this planet, well, I am inspired to keep going.

According to his website, more than 500 million plastic straws are used every day in the United States.  I stopped using plastic straws — consciously telling the bartender or the server, “No straw” — over a year ago.

Can you do the same?

One thing I have discovered in this battle with plastic is that the more you talk about it, the more other people start to think about it.

Are you consciously considering your decisions?  Do you see the plastic in your life?

Rethink.  Refuse.  Reduce. Reuse.

We only have one planet, people!



  1. Have you read any David Sobel? He’s out of Antioch UNE. He’s known best for place-based education/envi sci teacher training. But he also talks about kids who are too aware of envi issues… Instead of playing in the world, they are trying to save it. I highly recommend his writing & resear
